Modify bytes_xfered value after a write.
That will report, as accurately as possible, the amount of
sectors that are effectively written.
This update introduces the check of the busy signal given by
the card.

The at91 mci controller internal state machine seems to often crash. This can
be fixed by resetting the controller after each command for at91rm9200 and by
setting the MCI_BLKR register on at91sam926*.

Now get_ro() callback must return 0/1 values for its logical states, and
negative errno values in case of error. If particular host instance doesn't
support RO/WP switch, it should return -ENOSYS.
This patch changes some hosts in two ways:
1. Now functions should be smart to not return negative values in
"RO asserted" case (particularly gpio_ calls could return negative
values for the outermost GPIOs).
Also, board code usually passes get_ro() callbacks that directly return
gpioreg & bit result, so at91_mci, imxmmc, pxamci and mmc_spi's get_ro()
handlers need take special care when returning platform's values to the
mmc core.
2. In case of host instance didn't implement get_ro() callback, it should
really return -ENOSYS and let the mmc core decide what to do about it
(mmc core thinks the same way as the hosts, so it isn't functional
change).

This patch adds new platform data variable "caps", so platforms
could pass theirs capabilities into MMC core (for example, platforms
without interrupt on the CD line will most probably want to pass
MMC_CAP_NEEDS_POLL).
New platform get_cd() callback provided to optimize polling.

Some hosts (and boards that use mmc_spi) do not use interrupts on the CD
line, so they can't trigger mmc_detect_change. We want to poll the card
and see if there was a change. 1 second poll interval seems resonable.
This patch also implements .get_cd() host operation, that could be used
by the hosts that are able to report card-detect status without need to
talk MMC.

Remove the quirk to force DMA on the Ricoh and TI controllers as it is
no longer needed. The only bug they have is that they use an incorrect
PCI interface value, and that is not respected anymore.

The SDHCI interface is not PCI specific, yet the Linux driver was
intimitely connected to the PCI bus. This patch properly separates
the PCI specific portion from the bus independent code.
This patch is based on work by Ben Dooks but he did not have time
to complete it.

The pxa27x DMA controller defaults to 64-bit alignment. This caused
the SCR reads to fail (and, depending on card type, error out) when
card->raw_scr was not aligned on a 8-byte boundary.
For performance reasons all scatter-gather addresses passed to
pxamci_request should be aligned on 8-byte boundaries, but if
this can't be guaranteed, byte aligned DMA transfers in the
have to be enabled in the controller to get correct behaviour.

Even the newer ENE controllers have bugs in their DMA engine that make
it too dangerous to use. Disable it until someone has figured out under
which conditions it corrupts data.
This has caused problems at least once, and can be found as bug report
10925 in the kernel bugzilla.

The CaFe chip has a hardware bug that ends up with us getting a timeout
value that's too small, causing the following sorts of problems:

Presumably this is an off-by-one error in the hardware. Incrementing
the timeout count value that we stuff into the TIMEOUT_CONTROL register
gets us a value that works. This bug was originally discovered by
Pierre Ossman, I believe.

This has been sitting around unloved for way too long..
The Marvell CaFe chip's SD implementation chokes during card insertion
if one attempts to set the voltage and power up in the same
SDHCI_POWER_CONTROL register write. This adds a quirk that does
that particular dance in two steps.
It also adds an entry to pci_ids.h for the CaFe chip's SD device.

With CONFIG_DEBUG_SHIRQ set we will get an interrupt as soon as we
allocate one. Tasklets may be scheduled in the interrupt handler but they
will be initialized after the handler returns, causing a BUG() in
kernel/softirq.c when they run.

This fixes some two minor clk issues.
The first is a comparison where a byte will probably wrap around to 0 instead of being saturated to 255, shouldn't be triggered very often but need fixing.
The second is an attempt by the driver to adjust MCLK down to the maximum frequency according to the spec, so we don't accidentally overclock the PL18x block. None of the mach-{versatile|integrator|lh7a40x} that use it in-tree seem to have a problem with this (all are well below 100MHz, typically 33MHz), but some day there will be a problem.
This is not applied on top of the earlier mmci patch for race condition but rather a clean 2.6.25, but I guess it applies without major protests anyway.

Updated version of 4446/1. This also drops the suggested comparison
of host_remain for == 0, since that doesn't make sense (still works
for us, too). We have verified that this patch solve race problems
on atleast 2 archs at high frequencies.

The patch below fixes a race condition in the ARM MMCI PL18x driver.
If new data arrives in the FIFO while existing data is being read then
we get a second iteration of the loop in mmci_pio_read.
However host->size is not updated until after mmci_pio_read returns,
so we get count = number of new bytes PLUS number of bytes already
copied in the first iteration. This results in a FIFO underrun as
we try and read mode data than is available.
The fix is to compensating for data read on previous iterations
when calculating the amount of data in the FIFO.

The quirk was meant to just inhibit some resets, but ended up blocking
all of them. Fortunately, this was just what was needed. Change the
comment to reflect reality.
Also, this issue has just been observed on Samsung laptops, so reduce
the number of chips the quirk affects.

The limit was a fixed 100k limit in the busy loop, which is not
accurate. It would better to have time limit for the worst case
which occurs when sending 80 cycles at 400 kHz and takes about
200 microseconds, so limit the max time spend in the busy loop
for some 250 microseconds.

MMCA spec says the mmc clock should be kept running for at least
8 cycles after the last RW request. Ensure this with lazy clock
disable after a request, or with an explicit delay before
switching a slot.

The cover waitqueue is occasionally scheduled twice from timer
and the interrupt and oops follows. It would have been possible
to fix this problem with spinlocks but using tasklet was a dropin
solution with no need for locking.
This path also adds some cleanups.

When a card is removed while it is being accessed, a command can get stuck so
that no timeout or end of command interrupt ever occurs. The command getting
stuck is almost always CDM12, but also the other commands can get stuck. Catch
a stuck command with a timer and try sending the initialization stream until
the controller starts running again and responds with the end of command
status.

Suppressing uevents turned out to be a bad idea as it screws up the
order of events, making user space very confused. Change the system to
use sysfs groups instead.
This is a regression that, for some odd reason, has gone unnoticed for
some time. It confuses hal so that the block devices (which have the
mmc device as a parent) are not registered. End result being that
desktop magic when cards are inserted won't work.

Update the AT91 MMC driver to use the generic GPIO calls instead of the
AT91-specific calls; and to request (and release) those GPIO signals.
That required updating the probe() fault cleanup codepaths. Now there
is a single sequence for freeing resources, in reverse order of their
allocation. Also that code uses use dev_*() for messaging, and has less
abuse of KERN_ERR.
Likewise with updating remove() cleanup. This had to free the GPIOs,
and while adding that code I noticed and fixed two other problems: it
was poking at a workqueue owned by the mmc core; and in one (rare)
case would try freeing an IRQ that it didn't allocate.

As pci config space is reinitialised on a suspend/resume cycle, the
disabler needs to work its magic at resume time. For symmetry this
change also explicitly enables the controller at suspend time but
it's not strictly necessary.

pxa3[0|1]0 mmc controller can support 26MHz clock mode, they support
SD spec 1.1 and MMC spec 4.0 which specify high speed mode. So host
caps will include MMC_CAP_MMC_HIGHSPEED and MMC_CAP_SD_HIGHSPEED for
pxa3[0|1]0.
This patch is to add 26MHz support for them. pxa host clock will be
set to 26MHz mode when the card supported max clock rate is higher
than or equal to 26MHz.

The JMicron JMB38x chip doesn't support transfers that aren't 32-bit
aligned (both size and start address). It also doesn't like switching
between PIO and DMA mode, so it needs to be reset after each request.

Some controllers have been designed on the assumption that all transfers
will be 32-bit aligned, both in start address and in size. This is not a
guarantee the SDHCI specification provides and not one we can provide.
Revert back to PIO for individual requests in order to work around the
hardware bug.

mmc_init_queue only initializes the scatterlists with sg_init_table()
when using a bounce buffer. This leads to a BUG() when CONFIG_DEBUG_SG
is set.

It is possible to handle arbitrary block sizes with tifm card reader by
conditionally switching to PIO in case such block has to be delivered. At
the beginning of each request, DMA is either disabled (non-power-of-2 block
size) or set to load time user preference.

Patch 49dce689ad changed the sysfs data
structures for SPI in a way which broke the MMC-over-SPI host driver.
This patch fixes that regression by changing the scheme used to keep
from knowingly trying to use a shared bus segment, and updates the
adjacent comments slightly to better explain the issue.

MMC over SPI sends the CID and CSD registers as data, not responses,
which means that the host driver won't do the necessary byte flipping
for us.

converted many files to use the scatter gather helpers without ensuring
that the necessary headerfile <linux/scatterlist> is included. This
happened to work for ia64, powerpc, sparc64 and x86 because they
happened to drag in that file via their <asm/dma-mapping.h>.
On most of the others this probably broke.
Instead of increasing the header file spider web I choose to include
<linux/scatterlist.h> directly into the affectes files.

Make sure the mmc_spi driver can build without CONFIG_BLOCK.
Issue noted by "Avuton Olrich" <avuton@gmail.com> and randconfig.
While that won't be a common configuration, sometimes embedded
boards use SDIO to interface WLAN or Bluetooth chips (vs some
parallel interface), and don't provide an MMC/SD socket for use
with flash memory cards.

This changes the uevent buffer functions to use a struct instead of a
long list of parameters. It does no longer require the caller to do the
proper buffer termination and size accounting, which is currently wrong
in some places. It fixes a known bug where parts of the uevent
environment are overwritten because of wrong index calculations.

Using weight32() to determine if a value is a power of 2 is a rather
heavi weight solution. The classic idiom is (x & (x - 1)) == 0, but
the kernel already provide a is_power_of_2 function for it.

The PXA has two transmit FIFOes, each32 byte deep. when one FIFO is
full and the other one has been transmitted, they are automatically
swapped and DMA is triggered for another 32 byte burst. However, when
there is less than 32 bytes left to send, the FIFO swap has to be done
manually. This is required for some SDIO transfers which are not
required to be multiples of 32 bytes.
A DMA completion interrupt is set for each descriptor which length isn't
a multiple of 32 in order to force the FIFO swap. While at it, the DMA
interrupt handler has been made a bit more resilient against errors.

Currently we print a message about some bad states wrt function IRQ
handlers but return 0 from process_sdio_pending_irqs() nevertheless.
This can lead to an infinite loop as nothing might have cleared the
condition for the pending card interrupt from the host controller by
the time host->ops->enable_sdio_irq(host, 1) is called.

Thanks to Matt Domsch and Rezwanul Kabir at Dell, we know how to disable the
MMC controller on the multi-function Ricoh R5C832. The MMC controller needs
to be disabled or it will steal MMC cards from the SD controller where they
would otherwise be supported by the Linux SDHCI driver.

The interrupt polling frequency is a compromise between power usage and
interrupt latency. Unfortunately, it affects throughput rather severely
for devices which require an interrupt for every chunk of data.
By making the polling frequency adaptive, we get better throughput with
those devices without sacficing too much power. Polling will quickly
increase when there is an actual interrupt, and slowly fall back to the
idle frequency when the interrupts stop coming.

This is the latest version of the MMC-over-SPI support. It works
on 2.6.23-rc2 plus git-mmc (from rc1-mm2), along with the preceding
patches which teach the rest of the MMC stack about SPI.
The main issue of note is that sometimes cards need to be power cycled
to recover after certain faults. Also, it may sometimes be necessary
to disable CRCs. ("modprobe mmc_core use_spi_crc=n")

Teach the MMC/SD/SDIO core about using SPI mode.
- Use mmc_host_is_spi() so enumeration works through SPI signaling
and protocols, not just the native versions.
- Provide the SPI response type flags with each request issued,
including requests from the new lock/unlock code.
- Understand that cmd->resp[0] and mmc_get_status() results for SPI
return different values than for "native" MMC/SD protocol; this
affects resetting, checking card lock status, and some others.
- Understand that some commands act a bit differently ... notably:
* OP_COND command doesn't return the OCR
* APP_CMD status doesn't have an R1_APP_CMD analogue
Those changes required some new and updated primitives:
- Provide utilities to access two SPI-only requests, and one
request that wasn't previously needed:
* mmc_spi_read_ocr() ... SPI only
* mmc_spi_set_crc() ... SPI only (override by module parm)
* mmc_send_cid() ... for use without broadcast mode
- Updated internal routines:
* Previous mmc_send_csd() modified into mmc_send_cxd_native();
it uses native "R2" responses, which include 16 bytes of data.
* Previous mmc_send_ext_csd() becomes new mmc_send_cxd_data()
helper for command-and-data access
* Bugfix to that mmc_send_cxd_data() code: dma-to-stack is
unsafe/nonportable, so kmalloc a bounce buffer instead.
- Modified mmc_send_ext_csd() now uses mmc_send_cxd_data() helper
- Modified mmc_send_csd(), and new mmc_spi_send_cid(), routines use
those helper routines based on whether they're native or SPI
The newest categories of cards supported by the MMC stack aren't expected
to work yet with SPI: MMC or SD cards with over 4GB data, and SDIO.
All those cards support SPI mode, so eventually they should work too.

In a few places, sdio_uart_irq() is called directly instead of waiting
for the actual interrupt to be raised and the SDIO IRQ thread scheduled
in order to reduce latency. However, some interaction with the tty core
may end up calling us back (serial echo, flow control, etc.) creating
two issues:
- the host lock gets claimed twice from the same thread causing a
deadlock;
- the same direct calls to sdio_uart_irq() may be performed causing
unexpected reentrancy into the IRQ handler.
This patch handles both of those issues.

Extend sdio_readsb(), sdio_writesb(), sdio_memcpy_fromio(), and
sdio_memcpy_toio() to handle any length of buffer by splitting the transfer
into several IO_RW_EXTENDED commands. Typically, a transfer would be split
into a single block mode transfer followed by a byte mode transfer for the
remainder but we also handle lack of block mode support and the block size
being greater than 512 (the maximum byte mode transfer size).
host->max_seg_size <= host->max_req_size so there's no need to check both
when determining the maximum data size for a single command.

Before a driver is probed, set the function's block size to the default so the
driver is sure the block size is something sensible and it needn't explicitly
set it.
The default block size is the largest that's supported by both the card and
the host, with a maximum of 512 to ensure aribitrarily sized transfer use the
optimal (least) number of commands.

testing. Tested with a Matsushita GPS and gpsd version 2.34.

It is sometimes necessary to give up on trying to claim the host lock,
especially if that happens in a thread that has to be stopped.
While at it, fix the description for mmc_claim_host() which was wrong.

The problem is that the sdio_bus must be registered before any SDIO
drivers are registered against it otherwise the kernel sulks. Because
the sdio_bus registration happens through module_init (equivalent to
device_initcall), then any SDIO
drivers linked before the SDIO core code in the kernel will be initialized
first.
Upcoming SDIO function drivers are likely to be located outside the
drivers/mmc directory as it is common practice to group drivers according
to their function rather than the bus they use. SDIO drivers are therefore
likely to appear at random location in the kernel link.
To make sure the sdio_bus is always initialized before any SDIO drivers,
let's move the MMC init to the subsys_initcall level.

and the function specific one as we need the common information in
places where no specific function is specified.

This patch fixes a bug in AT91 mmc host driver, that enables the wakeup
from suspend on card detection pin even if the card detect pin is not
available (==0). If not card detection pin is defined, IRQ0 == FIQ gets
enabled and if some activity is present on that pin, the system gets a
FIQ request, that causes a crash.

It is fully legal for a controller to start issuing data related
interrupts before it has signalled that the command has completed.
Make sure the driver actually can handle this.

Some SDHC cards report an invalid maximum block size, in these cases
assume they support block sizes up to 512 bytes instead of returning
an error.

When the card has been added to the device model, it might be bound
to a card driver. Therefore, we have to release the host lock when
trying to remove it as we otherwise might deadlock with the driver.

In the normal case, the host lock can be claimed directly.
When it cannot, the caller will sleep. Make sure we don't
have any latent bugs by always calling might_sleep().
