PowerPC has been a long time user of the generic RTC abstraction, so hook up
rtc-generic:
- Create the "rtc-generic" platform device if ppc_md.get_rtc_time is set,
- Kill rtc-ppc, as rtc-generic offers the same functionality in a more
generic way, and supports autoloading through udev.

The rtc-parisc driver is not PA-RISC specific at all, as it uses the existing
(but deprecated) generic RTC infrastructure ([gs]et_rtc_time()).
Rename the driver from rtc-parisc to rtc-generic.

Setting ->owner as done currently (pde->owner = THIS_MODULE) is racy
as correctly noted at bug #12454. Someone can lookup entry with NULL
->owner, thus not pinning enything, and release it later resulting
in module refcount underflow.
We can keep ->owner and supply it at registration time like ->proc_fops
and ->data.
But this leaves ->owner as easy-manipulative field (just one C assignment)
and somebody will forget to unpin previous/pin current module when
switching ->owner. ->proc_fops is declared as "const" which should give
some thoughts.
->read_proc/->write_proc were just fixed to not require ->owner for
protection.
rmmod'ed directories will be empty and return "." and ".." -- no harm.
And directories with tricky enough readdir and lookup shouldn't be modular.
We definitely don't want such modular code.
Removing ->owner will also make PDE smaller.
So, let's nuke it.

This patch modifies invalid time handling in the
SuperH RTC driver. Instead of zeroing the returned
value at read-out time we just return an error code
and reset invalid values during probe.

This patch modifies the SuperH RTC driver to only
enable carry interrupts when needed. So by default
no interrupts are enabled with this patch. Without
this patch a suspending system will most likely
wake up by the carry interrupt regardless if the
alarm interrupt has been enabled or not.

The remaining registers are separated into:
- <mach/regs-ost.h>
- <mach/regs-rtc.h>
- <mach/regs-intc.h>
and then we can remove pxa-regs.h completely. Instead of #include this
file, let's:
1. include the specific <mach/regs-*.h> with care (if that's absolutely
necessary)
2. define the registers in the driver, make cleanly defined API to expose
the register access to external with sufficient reason

Add support for single IRQ hardware to the sh-rtc driver.
This is useful for processors with limited interrupt masking
support such as sh7750 and sh7780. With this patch in place we
can add logic to the intc code that merges all RTC vectors into
a single linux interrupt with proper masking/unmasking support.
Specify a single IRQ in the platform data to use this new shared
IRQ feature. Separate Periodic/Carry/Alarm IRQs are still supported.

Simple RTC driver for the MSP430 firmware on the DM355 EVM board. Other
than not supporting atomic reads/writes of all four bytes, this is
reasonable as a basic no-alarm RTC.

A triggering RTC alarm should be able to power on a device that has been
powered off. This patch enables that on twl4030 by not masking the alarm
interrupt at shutdown.

Remove RTC register value checks from the rtc-ds1307 probe() function.
They were left over from the legacy style I2C driver, which had to defend
against finding a non-RTC chip when the driver was probed.
Also fix a minor glitch in the alarm support: DS1307 chips don't have
alarms, so name those methods after one of the chips which actually *do*
have alarms (DS1337).

With PXA27x and above, a new RTC hardware block was added in addition to
the legacy one which is also found on the SA1100 SOC family. This second
RTC block is called "wristwatch" and "periodic interrupt" and works
independently from the other RTC block.
The driver offers provides :
- a 1Hz ticking clock
- a periodic alarm, in the 1Hz to 1000Hz range
- a one shot alarm

This patch fixes a bunch of irq checking misuses. Most drivers were
getting irq via platform_get_irq(), which returns -ENXIO or r->start.
rtc-cmos.c is special. It is using PNP and platform bindings. Hopefully
nobody is using PNP IRQ 0 for RTC. So the changes should be safe.
rtc-sh.c is using platform_get_irq, but was storing a result into an
unsigned type, then was checking for < 0. This is fixed now.

Add standard interfaces for alarm/update irqs enabling. Drivers are no
more required to implement equivalent ioctl code as rtc-dev will provide
it.
UIE emulation should now be handled correctly and will work even for those
RTC drivers who cannot be configured to do both UIE and AIE.

As Nicolas and Russell pointed out, CLOCK_TICK_RATE is no more
a constant on PXA when multiple processors and platforms are
selected, change TIMER_FREQ in rtc-sa1100.c into a variable.
Since the code to decide the clock tick rate is re-used from
timer.c, introduce a common get_clock_tick_rate() for this.

The AT91CAP9 revC CPU has a few differences over the previous,
revB CPU which was distributed in small quantities only (revA was
an internal Atmel product only).
This patch adds the detection routines to recognize the different
AT91CAP9 revisions (based on the PMC subsystem version number), and
uses them to:
- activate a workaround for the external interrupts levels
(on revB CPUs)
- set the UDPHS_BYPASS bit (on revB CPUs)
- set AT91_GPBR register address to the correct offset
(0xfffffd50 on revB, 0xfffffd60 on revC)
For debugging usage, the CPU revision can be found in /proc/cpuinfo
on the 'Revision' line.
This patch is extracted from Andrew Victor's -at91 patch (2.6.27-at91.patch)
where it has been tested for the last 6 months.

When fixing up invalid years rtc_read_alarm() was calling rtc_valid_tm()
as a boolean but rtc_valid_tm() returns zero on success or a negative
number if the time is not valid so the test was inverted.

As it is, all instances of ->release() for files that have ->fasync()
need to remember to evict file from fasync lists; forgetting that
creates a hole and we actually have a bunch that *does* forget.
So let's keep our lives simple - let __fput() check FASYNC in
file->f_flags and call ->fasync() there if it's been set. And lose that
crap in ->release() instances - leaving it there is still valid, but we
don't have to bother anymore.

When ds3234 is built-in, the final links fails with the following vague error
message:
`.exit.text' referenced in section `.data' of drivers/built-in.o: defined in discarded section `.exit.text' of drivers/built-in.o
ds3234_remove() cannot be marked __exit, as it's accessed via __devexit_p().
In addition, mark ds3234_probe() __devinit while we're at it.

This adds a driver for the RTC inside the TWL4030 multi-function device.
It's a fairly basic RTC, with a wake-capable alarm.
Note that many of the pre-release Overo boards now in circulation can't
effectively use this RTC, because of a wiring error that puts its TWL
chip into "secure" mode. (As in "secure yourself against tampering".)
This isn't an issue on other OMAP3 boards now supported in mainline,
such as Beagle and Labrador.

This merges branches irq/genirq, irq/sparseirq-v4, timers/hpet-percpu
and x86/uv.
The sparseirq branch is just preliminary groundwork: no sparse IRQs are
actually implemented by this tree anymore - just the new APIs are added
while keeping the old way intact as well (the new APIs map 1:1 to
irq_desc[]). The 'real' sparse IRQ support will then be a relatively
small patch ontop of this - with a v2.6.29 merge target.

Tejun's commit 7b595756ec made sysfs
attribute->owner unnecessary. But the field was left in the structure to
ease the merge. It's been over a year since that change and it is now
time to start killing attribute->owner along with its users - one arch at
a time!
This patch is attempt #1 to get rid of attribute->owner only for
CONFIG_X86_64 or CONFIG_X86_32 . We will deal with other arches later on
as and when possible - avr32 will be the next since that is something I
can test. Compile (make allyesconfig / make allmodconfig / custom config)
and boot tested.
akpm: the idea is that we put the declaration of sttribute.owner inside
`#ifndef CONFIG_X86'. But that proved to be too ambitious for now because
new usages kept on turning up in subsystem trees.

Teach rtc-cmos about the second bank of registers found on most modern x86
systems, giving access to 128 bytes more NVRAM.
This version only sees that extra NVRAM when both register banks are
provided as part of *one* PNP resource. Since BIOS on some systems
presents them using two IO resources, and nothing merges them, this can't
always show all the NVRAM. (We're supposed to be able to use PNP id
PNP0b01 too, but BIOS tables doesn't often seem to use that particular
option.)

Add support for M41T65 Real Time Clock chip.
The main differences I see between the M41T65 and M41T80 are that:
1) The M41T65 watchdog timer has three bits controlling resolution
(versus two for the M41T80).
2) There is no register 0x13 for controlling square-wave output.

Make the rtc framework consistent about disabling 1/second update IRQs
that may have been activated through the /dev interface, when that /dev
file is closed. (It may have closed because of coredump, etc.) This was
previously done only for emulated update IRQs ... now, do it always.
Also comment the current policy: repeating IRQs (periodic, update) that
userspace enabled will be cleanly disabled, but alarms are left alone.
Such repeating IRQs are a constant and pointless system load.
Update some RTC drivers to remove now-needless release() methods. Most
such methods just enforce that policy. The others all seem to be buggy,
and mistreat in-kernel clients of periodic or alarm IRQs.

rtc-rs5c372 presently depends on I2C master mode transfers, despite the
fact that these RTCs frequently find themselves on SMBus-only adapters.
Given that the only capabilities that were checked were for I2C_FUNC_I2C,
it's assumed that most of the adapters that are currently using this
driver are fairly sane, and are able to handle SMBus emulation (though we
adjust the default capabilities to check for I2C_FUNC_SMBUS_EMUL anyways,
which is the vast majority of them. The adapters that don't have their
own ->smbus_xfer() fall back on the ->master_xfer() through the emulated
transfer).
The special case is iop3xx, which has more than its fair share of hacks
within this driver, it remains untested -- though also claims to support
emulated SMBus accesses. The corner case there is rs5c_get_regs() which
uses access mode #3 for transferring the register state, while we use mode
#1 for SMBus.

Update the ds1307 driver with alarm support for ds1337/ds1339. This uses
the first alarm (there are two), and matches on seconds, minutes, hours,
and day-of-month. Tested on ds1339.

We shouldn't rely on "pnp_platform_devices" to tell us whether there
is a PNP RTC device.
I introduced "pnp_platform_devices", but I think it was a mistake.
All it tells us is whether we found any PNPBIOS or PNPACPI devices.
Many machines have some PNP devices, but do not describe the RTC
via PNP. On those machines, we need to do the platform driver probe
to find the RTC.
We should just register the PNP driver and see whether it claims anything.
If we don't find a PNP RTC, fall back to the platform driver probe.
This (in conjunction with the arch/x86/kernel/rtc.c patch to add
a platform RTC device when PNP doesn't have one) should resolve
these issues:

Fix setting of a year in m48t08 and m48t02 clocks.
They do not have century bits and setting them
causes the year to overflow (bit 0x80 set).

Add support for two compatible RTC:
- M48T08 which does not have alarm part,
- M48T08 which does not have alarm part and has
only 2KB of NVRAM
These types covers all Mostek's RTC used in Sun UltraSparc workstations.
Tested on Sun Ultra60 with M48T59 RTC.

Update rtc-cmos shutdown handling to leave RTC alarms active, resolving
http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11411 on several boards. There
are still some systems where the ACPI event handling doesn't cooperate.
(Possibly related to bugid 11312, reporting the spontaneous disabling of
RTC events.)
Bug 11411 reported that changes to work around some ACPI event issues
broke wake-from-S5 handling, as used for DVR applications. (They like to
power off, then wake later to record programs.)

Add Sparc to the Kconfig depends list.
Add __sparc___ to address_sparc = 128 ifdef.
Finally, don't be concerned about 24-hour BCD mode support if the RTC
doesn't have a valid IRQ. We won't even use the alarm code in this
case and the Sparc RTCs have this limitation.

On a PowerPC board with ds1374 RTC I'm getting this error while RTC tries
to probe:
rtc-ds1374 0-0068: unable to request IRQ
This happens because I2C probing code (drivers/of/of_i2c.c) is specifying
IRQ0 for 'no irq' case, which is correct.
The driver handles this incorrectly, though. This patch fixes it.

With commit 5ad31a5751 ("rtc: remove BKL
for ioctl()"), RTC_UIE_ON ioctl cause double lock on rtc->ops_lock.
The ops_lock must not be held while set_uie() calls rtc_read_time()
which takes the lock. Also clear_uie() does not need ops_lock. This
patch fixes return value of RTC_UIE_OFF ioctl too.

The old rtc.c driver did it and some drivers (like rtc-sh) do it in their
release function, though they should not -- because they should provide
the irq_set_state op and the rtc framework itself should care about it.
This patch makes it do so.
I am aware that some drivers, like rtc-sh, handle userspace PIE sets in
their ioctl op (instead of having the framework call the op), exporting
the irq_set_state op at the same time. The logic in rtc_irq_set_state
should make sure it doesn't matter and the driver should not need to care
stopping periodic interrupts in its release routine any more.
The correct way, in my opinion, should be this:
1) The driver provides the irq_set_state op and does not care closing the
interrupts in its release op.
2) If the driver does not provide the op and handles PIE in the ioctl op, it's
reponsible for closing them in its release op.
3) Something similar for other IRQs, like UIE -- if there's no in-kernel API
like irq_set_state, handle it in ioctl and release ops. The framework will
be responsible either for everything or for nothing. (This will probably
change later.)

It was pointed out that the RTC framework handles its mutex locks oddly
... returning -EBUSY when interrupted. This fixes that by returning the
value of mutex_lock_interruptible() (i.e. -EINTR).

This fixes kernel http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11112 (bogus
RTC update IRQs reported) for rtc-cmos, in two ways:
- When HPET is stealing the IRQs, use the first IRQ to grab
the seconds counter which will be monitored (instead of
using whatever was previously in that memory);
- In sane IRQ handling modes, scrub out old IRQ status before
enabling IRQs.
That latter is done by tightening up IRQ handling for rtc-cmos everywhere,
also ensuring that when HPET is used it's the only thing triggering IRQ
reports to userspace; net object shrink.
Also fix a bogus HPET message related to its RTC emulation.

This fixes kernel http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11112 (bogus
RTC update IRQs reported) for rtc-at91rm9200 by scrubbing old IRQ status
before enabling IRQs.
It also removes nonfunctional periodic IRQ support from this driver;
only update IRQs are reported, or provided by the hardware.
I suspect some other RTCs probably have versions of #11112; it's easy to
overlook, since most non-RTC drivers don't care about spurious IRQs:
they're not reported to userspace.

The rtc-s3c.c driver has been using its own ioctl() handling to deal with
alarm and periodic interrupts to handle what should now be done with the
rtc core code.
Change to using the .irq_set_freq and .irq_set_state driver entries and
remove the .ioctl handling.

Resolve http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11051 and other bugs
related to the way the HPET glue code in rtc-cmos was incomplete and
inconsistent:
* Switch the approach so that the basic driver code flow isn't
changed by having HPET ... instead, just have HPET shadow the
RTC_CONTROL irq enables and RTC_FREQ_SELECT data. It's only
coping with IRQ thievery, after all.
* Do that consistently (!!) to avoid problems when the HPET code
is out of sync with the real RTC intent. Examples include:
- cmos_procfs(), which now reports correct data
- cmos_irq_set_state() ... also removing the previous PIE_{ON,OFF}
ioctl support so only one code path manages "periodic" IRQs
- cmos_do_shutdown() ... currently a "just in case" change.
- cmos_suspend() and cmos_resume() ... also handling a bug that
was specific to HPET's IRQ thievery, where the alarm wasn't
disabled after waking the system
* Always call that HPET code under the RTC spinlock (it doesn't do
its own locking)
Also clean up the HPET glue:
* Add some comments explaining what's going on.
* Switch to having just one #ifdef for the HPET glue, and inline
functions (not #defines) to avoid some compiler warnings.
* Have the probe message also report when HPET IRQs are involved
This still leaves various holes in the HPET glue, like the emulated update
IRQs being out of sync with the RTC, alarms never using day or month
matches, and many extra IRQs (at 64 Hz).

When CONFIG_HPET_EMULATE_RTC is defined the external declaration of
hpet_rtc_interrupt is redundant due to the inclusion of hpet.h.
When !CONFIG_HPET_EMULATE_RTC we make it clear that hpet_rtc_interrupt is
not used by defining it to return zero.

Support the Dallas/Maxim DS1305 and DS1306 RTC chips. These use SPI, and
support alarms, NVRAM, and a trickle charger for use when their backup
power supply is a supercap or rechargeable cell.

I've tested it on two different AT91-based hardwares.

Remove implicit use of BKL in ioctl() from the RTC framework.
Instead, the rtc->ops_lock is used. That's the same lock that already
protects the RTC operations when they're issued through the exported
rtc_*() calls in drivers/rtc/interface.c ... making this a bugfix, not
just a cleanup, since both ioctl calls and set_alarm() need to update IRQ
enable flags and that implies a common lock (which RTC drivers as a rule
do not provide on their own).
A new comment at the declaration of "struct rtc_class_ops" summarizes
current locking rules. It's not clear to me that the exceptions listed
there should exist ... if not, those are pre-existing problems which can
be fixed in a patch that doesn't relate to BKL removal.

This mirrors the functionality that driver_find_device has as well.
We add a start variable, and all callers of the function are fixed up at
the same time.
The block layer will be using this new functionality in a follow-on
patch.

I have discovered that the current version of rtc-x1205.c does not work
correctly when asked to set the alarm time by the RTC_WKALM_SET ioctl()
call. This happens because the alarm registers do not behave like the
current-time registers. They are non-volatile. Two things go wrong:
- the X1205 requires a 10 msec delay after any attempt to write to the
non-volatile registers. The x1205_set_datetime() routine does the write
as 8 single-byte writes without any delay. Only the first write
succeeds. The second is NAKed because the chip is busy.
- the X1205 resets the RWEL bit after any write to the non-volatile
registers. This would lock out any further writes after the first even
with a 10msec delay.
I fix this by doing a single 8-byte write and then waiting 10msec for the
chip to be ready. A side effect of this change is that it will speed up
x1205_rtc_set_time() which uses the same code.
I have also implemented the 'enable' bit in the rtc_wkalm structure, which
the existing driver does not attempt to do. I have modified both
x1205_rtc_set_alarm() to set the AL0E bit, and x1205_rtc_read_alarm() to
return it.
I have tested this patch on a LinkSys NSLU2 under OpenWRT, but on no other
hardware. On the NSLU2 the X1205 correctly asserts its IRQ pin when the
alarm time matches the current time.

While 0e36a9a4a7 ("rtc: fix readback from
/sys/class/rtc/rtc?/wakealarm") made sure that active alarms were never
returned with invalid "wildcard" fields (negative), it can still report
(wrongly) that the alarm triggers in the past.
Example, if it's now 10am, an alarm firing at 5am will be triggered
TOMORROW not today. (Which may also be next month or next year...)
This updates that alarm handling in three ways:
* Handle alarm rollover in the common cases of RTCs that don't
support matching on all date fields.
* Skip the invalid-field logic when it's not needed.
* Minor bugfix ... tm_isdst should be ignored, it's one of the
fields Linux doesn't maintain.
A warning is emitted for some of the unhandled rollover cases, but the
possible combinations are a bit too numerous to handle every bit of
potential hardware and firmware braindamage.

Ramtron FM3130 is a chip with two separate devices inside, RTC clock and
FRAM. This driver provides only RTC functionality.
This chip is met in lots of custom boards with AT91SAMXXXX CPU I work
with, is cheap and in no way better or worse than any other RTC on market.
While it is mostly met on much smaller devices, I think it is great to
have it supported in Linux.

Recently (around 2.6.25) I've noticed that RTC no longer works for me. It
turned out this is because I use pnpacpi=off kernel option to work around
the parport_pc bugs. I always did so, but RTC used to work fine in the
past, and now it have regressed.
The patch fixes the problem by creating the platform device for the RTC
when PNP is disabled. This may also help running the PNP-enabled kernel
on an older PCs.

triggered, not whether we're waiting for it. alarm->enabled indicates
that.

kernels using CONFIG_RTC_CLASS have RTC support on most PowerPC platforms.
A new driver, and one which we've been shipping in Fedora for a while
already, since otherwise RTC support breaks.

asm/mach/time.h is the ARM header file for setting up kernel ticker
timekeeping (be that the old jiffy interrupt or the new clocksource.)
RTC drivers have no business using this header file, and in fact do
not require it.

The input argument to rtc_time_to_tm() is unsigned as well as are members of
the output structure. However signed arithmetic is used within for
calculations leading to incorrect results for input values outside the signed
positive range. If this happens the time of day returned is out of range.
Found the problem when fiddling with the RTC and the driver where year was set
to an unexpectedly large value like 2070, e.g.:
rtc0: setting system clock to 2070-01-01 1193046:71582832:26 UTC (3155760954)
while it should be:
rtc0: setting system clock to 2070-01-01 00:15:54 UTC (3155760954)
Changing types to unsigned fixes the problem.

As the old driver_name/type matching scheme is going away soon, change
the dummy device mechanism to use the new matching scheme.
This has the downside that dummy i2c clients can no longer choose
their name, they'll all appear as "dummy" in sysfs and in log
messages. I don't think it is a problem in practice though, as there
is little reason to use these i2c clients to log messages.

The file in drivers/rtc/rtc-ds1551.c uses "int" for flags. This can cause
hard to find bugs on some architectures. This patch converts the flags to use
"long" instead.
This bug was discovered by doing an allyesconfig make on the -rt kernel where
checks are done to ensure all flags are of size sizeof(long).

In current kernel if we want to set the alarm time, the absolute time the
seconds relative to 1970-01-01 00:00:00) should be written into
/sys/class/rtc/rtc0/wakealarm. It is not convenient.
It is more reasonable to add the support for the alarm time relative to
current RTC time.(the unit is second)
For example:
If the RTC is required to generate alarm after 2 minutes, the following
will be OK.
echo +120 > /sys/class/rtc/rtc0/wakealarm
or echo +0x78 > /sys/class/rtc/rtc0/wakealarm

rs5c_get_regs() currently uses rs5c->rtc->name for its debug printk when
i2c_transfer() fails, though it is used several times before the rtc dev
has been registered. The earliest we can get at the symbolic name is via
the i2c client's struct device, which can be handled by moving the first
rs5c_get_regs() until after the client pointer is assigned.

Kconfig tweaks to help reduce RTC configuration bugs, by avoiding
legacy RTC drivers when the generic RTC framework is enabled:
- If rtc-cmos is selected, disable the legacy rtc driver;
- When using generic RTC on x86, enable rtc-cmos by default;
- In the old "chardev RTC" section of Kconfig, add a comment
warning people off these (seven) legacy RTC drivers when
the generic framework is in use.
People can still use the legacy drivers if they want (or need) to.
This doesn't fix the broken dependencies for the legacy "CMOS" RTC driver.
Ideally it would be a full list of platforms where it works, not a partial
list of ones where it won't. Or better yet, it would depend on a
"HAVE_CMOS_RTC" flag defined by various platforms ... surely there's a
Kconfig style guideline lurking there.

There is a bug in the function of cmos_set_alarm. RTC alarm time for October
can't be set correctly.
For October: 0x0A will be written into the RTC region (MONTH_ALARM) in current
kernel. But in fact 0x10 should be written. Wildcards are also not handled
correctly.

For the "cmos" RTC, have /proc/driver/rtc say whether HPET based IRQ
emulation is in effect. Given the problems we've had with this particular
hardware maldesign (and the fact that most BIOS code seems not to provide
the IRQ routing needed to use the saner HPET modes), this should help
troubleshooting.

AT91sam9 RTC support, primarily in the form of an RTT-as-RTC driver that was
extracted from 2.6.23-at91 patch and updated:
- Relies on now-merged platform updates, which associate the RTT
hardware address with each RTT and use the "at91_rtt" name.
- RTC framework related fixes and cleanups, notably:
* removed now-needless suspend/resume clock offset logic
* alarm read/write now respects the "enabled" flag
* suspend always disables update irqs
* shutdown (and startup) disables all irqs
- Misc cleanup:
* use dev_*() messaging
* add comments
* remove globals,
* ... etc
- Don't force use of RTT0 and GPBR0. Either resource may need
to be used for other purposes (like NO_HZ support).
- Update "AT91RM9200 RTC" Kconfig to allow it on SAM9RL chips
(it has both RTT and RTC).
Driver binding uses bus_find_device() to avoid needing any kind of "timer
library" code when there's more than one RTT module. (This timer can be used
as an RTC, to support NO_HZ operation, or potentially for other stuff. The
choice is a per-system policy.)

Remove some more references to dev->power.power_state. That field is overdue
for removal, but we can't do that while it's still referenced in the kernel.
The only reason to update it was to make the /sys/devices/.../power/state
files (now removed) work better.

That patch adds the RTC emulation of the HPET timer to the new RTC_DRV_CMOS.
The old drivers/char/rtc.ko driver had that functionality and it's important

Start making the rtc-cmos alarm act more like a oneshot alarm by disabling
that alarm after its IRQ fires. (ACPI hooks are also needed.)
The Linux RTC framework has previously been a bit vague in this area, but
any other behavior is problematic and not very portable. RTCs with full
YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM[:SS] alarms won't have a problem here. Only ones with
partial match criteria, with the most visible example being the PC RTC, get
confused. (Because the criteria will match repeatedly.)
Update comments relating to that oneshot behavior and timezone handling.
(Timezones are another issue that's mostly visible with rtc-cmos. That's
because PCs often dual-boot MS-Windows, which likes its RTC to match local
wall-clock time instead of UTC.)

This adds a basic ds1302 RTC driver, which is basically a cleanup and move
of the in-tree SH SecureEdge5410 code (which is currently located in
arch/sh/board/snapgear/rtc.c) to drivers/rtc.
This aims to be a building block that the M32R and CRIS code can be worked
on top of, so we can get rid of drivers/char/ds1302.c and
arch/cris/arch-v10/drivers/ds1302.c respectively, though more work is
needed for this.

This makes rtc-cmos export its NVRAM, like several other RTC drivers.
It still works within the limits of the current CMOS_READ/CMOS_WRITE calls,
which don't understand how to access multiple register banks. The primary
impact of that limitation is that Linux can't access the uppermost 128
bytes of NVRAM on many systems.
Note that this isn't aiming to be a drop-in replacement for the legacy
/dev/nvram support. (Presumably that has real users, and isn't just
getting carried forward automatically?) Userspace handles more work:
- When userspace code updates NVRAM, that will need to include
updating any platform-specific checksums that may apply.
- No /proc/driver/nvram file will parse and display NVRAM data
according to whichever boot firmware your board expects.
Also minor pnp-related updates: update a comment, remove dead code.
