Lin Ming e90b1e5a6e ata: update ata port's runtime status during system resume
The ata port is brought back to full power state during system resume.
So its runtime PM status will have to be updated to reflect
the actual post-system sleep status.

This also fixes below warning during system suspend/resume.

Axel Lin 99c8ea3e57 SATA/PATA: convert drivers/ata/* to use module_platform_driver()
This patch converts the drivers in drivers/ata/* to use the

simpler.

Lin Ming 9a6d6a2dda ata: make ata port as parent device of scsi host
Currently, the device tree of ata port and scsi host looks as below,

        /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1f.2 (ahci controller)
        |-- ata1 (ata port)
        |-- host0 (scsi host)
           |-- target0:0:0 (scsi target)
               |-- 0:0:0:0 (disk)

This patch makes ata port as parent device of scsi host, then it becomes

        /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1f.2 (ahci controller)
        |-- ata1 (ata port)
            |-- host0 (scsi host)
                |-- target0:0:0 (scsi target)
                    |-- 0:0:0:0 (disk)

With this change, the ata port runtime PM is easier.
For example, the ata port runtime suspend will happen as,

disk suspend --> scsi target suspend --> scsi host suspend --> ata port
suspend.

Tejun Heo 7faa33da9b ahci: start engine only during soft/hard resets
This is another attempt at fixing the same problem that 270dac35c2
(libata: ahci_start_engine compliant to AHCI spec) tried to solve.
Unfortunately, 270dac35c2 created regressions for a lot more common
controllers and got reverted.

This specific AHCI IP block becomes a brick if the DMA engine is
started while DRQ is set. It is not possible to avoid the condition
completely but the most common occurrence is caused by spurious use of
ahci_start_engine() from ahci_start_port() during init sequence.

DMA engine is started after both soft and hard resets and
ahci_start_port() is always followed by resets, so there is no reason
to start DMA engine from ahci_start_port().

This patch removes ahci_start_engine() invocation from
ahci_start_port(). This change makes failure path of
ahci_port_suspend() leave engine stopped without following resets.
This is resolved by replacing ahci_start_port() call with
ata_port_freeze() which forces resets afterwards, which is the better
behavior anyway.

UDMA6 (ATA/133) is not supported on some chipsets and we need to ensure

Julia Lawall a081da630d drivers/ata/sata_dwc_460ex.c: add missing kfree
Currently, error handling code in this function calls the function
sata_dwc_port_stop, but this function has essentially no effect if hsdevp
has not been stored in ap, which is the case throughout this function. The
only effect is to print a debugging message including ap->print_id.

The code is rewritten to not call sata_dwc_port_stop, but instead to jump
to a local label that prints the original error message and the print_id
information. In the case where hsdevp has been already allocated (but not
yet stored in ap), this value is freed as well.

Tejun Heo 6d0e194d2e pata_via: disable ATAPI DMA on AVERATEC 3200
On AVERATEC 3200, pata_via causes memory corruption with ATAPI DMA,
which often leads to random kernel oops. The cause of the problem is
not well understood yet and only small subset of machines using the
controller seem affected. Blacklist ATAPI DMA on the machine.

Jeff Garzik ebd1699ec5 [libata] sata_sil: fix used-uninit warning
Init 'serror' to silence the following warning:

drivers/ata/sata_sil.c: In function ‘sil_interrupt’:
drivers/ata/sata_sil.c:453:14: warning: ‘serror’ may be used uninitialized in
this function [-Wuninitialized]

This is not a 'can never happen' but is nonetheless extremely unlikely.
The easiest and cleanest warning fix is simply to init the var,
rather than worry about marking the var uninit-ok.

Vasiliy Kulikov 04e506b5e7 sata_dwc_460ex: fix error path
Fixed hsdev memleak on sata_dwc_probe() error.
As dma_dwc_exit() can be called multiple times without sata_dma_regs and
irq_dma changes, it might lead to double free on sequential
dma_dwc_exit() calls. So, zero these fields after free calls.

Mark Nelson 3c4aa91f21 ahci: Enable SB600 64bit DMA on Asus M3A
Like e65cc194f7 this patch enables 64bit DMA
for the AHCI SATA controller of a board that has the SB600 southbridge. In
this case though we're enabling 64bit DMA for the Asus M3A motherboard. It
is a new enough board that all of the BIOS releases since the initial
release (0301 from 2007-10-22) work correctly with 64bit DMA enabled.

Tejun Heo 38941c9521 libata: report link resume failure as KERN_WARNING instead of ERR
Link resume failure in itself isn't an error condition and may happen

Tejun Heo 8ea7645c5a libata: leave port thawed after reset failure
libata EH intentionally left a port frozen if it failed
ata_eh_reset(). The intention was avoiding continuous loop of resets
when the controller or attached device is flaky and reporting spurious
hotplug events. Once port enters this state, it can be recovered with
manual rescan, which seemed reasonable.

However, outside of my convoluted test setup, there have been very few
reports justifying this choice while there have been more cases where
the automatic freezing of the port after hotplug attempt of a faulty
device caused confusion and led to unnecessary resets.

This patch changes the behavior so that the port is thawed after reset
failure. This change doesn't necessarily solve but makes it easier
and more intuitive to work around hotplug related problems
(ie. re-pluggin or power cycling the device) as reported in the
followings.
