Add the termios2 structure ready for enabling on most platforms. One or
two like Sparc are plain weird so have been left alone. Most can use the
same structure as ktermios for termios2 (ie the newer ioctl uses the
structure matching the current kernel structure)

sched-cfs-v2.6.22-git-v18.patch introduces CPU_IDLE in sched.h.
This conflict with the already existing define in
include/asm-s390/processor.h
Just rename the s390 defines, since they will go away as soon as
we support CONFIG_NO_HZ instead of our own CONFIG_NO_IDLE_HZ.

The bogomips calculation triggered via reading from /proc/cpuinfo
can return incorrect values if the qrnnd assembly is called with a
pointer in %r2 with any of the upper 32 bits set.
Fix this by using 64 bit division / remainder operation provided by
gcc instead of calling the assembly.

Some changes done a while ago to avoid pounding on ptep_set_access_flags and
update_mmu_cache in some race situations break sun4c which requires
update_mmu_cache() to always be called on minor faults.
This patch reworks ptep_set_access_flags() semantics, implementations and
callers so that it's now responsible for returning whether an update is
necessary or not (basically whether the PTE actually changed). This allow
fixing the sparc implementation to always return 1 on sun4c.

With the advent of kdump, the assumption that the boot CPU when booting an UP
kernel is always the CPU with a particular hardware ID (often 0) (usually
referred to as BSP on some architectures) is not valid anymore. The reason
being that the dump capture kernel boots on the crashed CPU (the CPU that
invoked crash_kexec), which may be or may not be that particular CPU.
Move definition of hard_smp_processor_id for the UP case to
architecture-specific code ("asm/smp.h") where it belongs, so that each
architecture can provide its own implementation.

Currently the size of the per-cpu region reserved to save crash notes is
set by the per-architecture value MAX_NOTE_BYTES. Which in turn is
currently set to 1024 on all supported architectures.
While testing ia64 I recently discovered that this value is in fact too
small. The particular setup I was using actually needs 1172 bytes. This
lead to very tedious failure mode where the tail of one elf note would
overwrite the head of another if they ended up being alocated sequentially
by kmalloc, which was often the case.
It seems to me that a far better approach is to caclculate the size that
the area needs to be. This patch does just that.
If a simpler stop-gap patch for ia64 to be squeezed into 2.6.21(.X) is
needed then this should be as easy as making MAX_NOTE_BYTES larger in
arch/asm-ia64/kexec.h. Perhaps 2048 would be a good choice. However, I
think that the approach in this patch is a much more robust idea.

This patch moves the die notifier handling to common code. Previous
various architectures had exactly the same code for it. Note that the new
code is compiled unconditionally, this should be understood as an appel to
the other architecture maintainer to implement support for it aswell (aka
sprinkling a notify_die or two in the proper place)
arm had a notifiy_die that did something totally different, I renamed it to
arm_notify_die as part of the patch and made it static to the file it's
declared and used at. avr32 used to pass slightly less information through
this interface and I brought it into line with the other architectures.

Architectures that don't support DMA can say so by adding a config NO_DMA
to their Kconfig file. This will prevent compilation of some dma specific
driver code. Also dma-mapping-broken.h isn't needed anymore on at least
s390. This avoids compilation and linking of otherwise dead/broken code.
Other architectures that include dma-mapping-broken.h are arm26, h8300,
m68k, m68knommu and v850. If these could be converted as well we could get
rid of the header file.

These helper functions are a leftover from 2.4 sync I/O and are a
notorious source for bugs. They lead to device driver specific code
creeping into cio, and some issues can't really be fixed at all.
Device drivers can easily implement those functions themselves in a
more robust manner, so let's get rid of them.

Add hooks to allow a paravirt implementation to track the lifetime of
an mm. Paravirtualization requires three hooks, but only two are
needed in common code. They are:
arch_dup_mmap, which is called when a new mmap is created at fork
arch_exit_mmap, which is called when the last process reference to an
mm is dropped, which typically happens on exit and exec.
The third hook is activate_mm, which is called from the arch-specific
activate_mm() macro/function, and so doesn't need stub versions for
other architectures. It's called when an mm is first used.

The page_test_and_clear_dirty primitive really consists of two
operations, page_test_dirty and the page_clear_dirty. The combination
of the two is not an atomic operation, so it makes more sense to have
two separate operations instead of one.
In addition to the improved readability of the s390 version of
SetPageUptodate, it now avoids the page_test_dirty operation which is
an insert-storage-key-extended (iske) instruction which is an expensive
operation.

Generate uevents for all cpus if cpu capability changes. This can
happen e.g. because the cpus are overheating. The cpu capability can
be read via /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpuN/capability.

s390 machines provide hardware support for creating Linux dumps on SCSI
disks. For creating a dump a special purpose dump Linux is used. The first
32 MB of memory are saved by the hardware before the dump Linux is
booted. Via an SCLP interface, the saved memory can be accessed from
Linux. This patch exports memory and registers of the crashed Linux to
userspace via a debugfs file. For more information refer to
Documentation/s390/zfcpdump.txt, which is included in this patch.

Generic bug implementation for s390. Will increase the value of the
console output on BUG() statements since registers r0-r5,r14 will
not be clobbered by a printk() call that was previously done before
the illegal instruction of BUG() was hit.
Also implements an architecture specific WARN_ON(). Output of that
could be increased but requires common code change.

This patch adds two improvements to the oops output. First it adds an
additional line after the PSW which decodes the different fields of it.
Second a disassembler is added that decodes the instructions surrounding

Now that network timestamps use ktime_t infrastructure, we can add a new
SOL_SOCKET sockopt SO_TIMESTAMPNS.
This command is similar to SO_TIMESTAMP, but permits transmission of
a 'timespec struct' instead of a 'timeval struct' control message.
(nanosecond resolution instead of microsecond)
Control message is labelled SCM_TIMESTAMPNS instead of SCM_TIMESTAMP
A socket cannot mix SO_TIMESTAMP and SO_TIMESTAMPNS : the two modes are
mutually exclusive.
sock_recv_timestamp() became too big to be fully inlined so I added a
__sock_recv_timestamp() helper function.

git commit f994aae1bd changed the
function declaration of csum_tcpudp_nofold. Argument types were
changed from unsigned long to __be32 (unsigned int). Therefore we
lost the implicit type conversion that zeroed the upper half of the
registers that are used to pass parameters. Since the inline assembly
relied on this we ended up adding random values and wrong checksums
were created.
Showed only up on machines with more than 4GB since gcc produced code
where the registers that are used to pass 'saddr' and 'daddr' previously
contained addresses before calling this function.
Fix this by using 32 bit arithmetics and convert code to C, since gcc
produces better code than these hand-optimized versions.

Reipl doesn't work on older machines were s390_reset_machine() gets
called. The reason is that the text section is read-only but the
variable dump_prefix_page is there. Since s390_reset_machine() writes
to it we get a protection exception.
Therefore move dump_prefix_page to the bss section.

With CONFIG_SHARED_KERNEL the kernel text segment that might be in a
read only memory sections starts at 1MB. Memory between 0x12000 and
0x100000 is unused then. Free this, so we have appr. an extra MB
of memory available.

The current ccw_device_set_options() sets a specified mask of options
and clears those not specified, but there is no way to find out which
options have already been set.
In order to fix this up, introduce the following interface changes:
ccw_device_set_options() now only sets the specified bits, but does
not clear those that are not specified.
ccw_device_clear_options() clears the specified bits.
ccw_device_set_options_mask() provides the old semantics (setting only
the specified bits and clearing the others).
Device drivers now work as expected. qdio has been adapted.

on s390 (or uml). OTOH, removing that thing would mean a user-visible
change - we go from "empty file in /proc" to "no such file in /proc"...

The line discipline numbers N_* are currently defined for each architecture
individually, but (except for a seeming mistake) identically, in
asm/termios.h. There is no obvious reason why these numbers should be
architecture specific, nor any apparent relationship with the termios
structure. The total number of these, NR_LDISCS, is defined in linux/tty.h
anyway. So I propose the following patch which moves the definitions of
the individual line disciplines to linux/tty.h too.
Three of these numbers (N_MASC, N_PROFIBUS_FDL, and N_SMSBLOCK) are unused
in the current kernel, but the patch still keeps the complete set in case
there are plans to use them yet.

Set read-only flag in the page table entries for the kernel image text
section. This will catch all instruction caused corruptions withing the
text section.
Instruction replacement via kprobes still works, since it bypasses now
dynamic address translation.

Hopefully this will make it more maintainable and less error prone.
Code makes use of search_exception_tables(). Since it calls this
function before the kernel exeception table is sorted, there is an
early call to sort_main_extable().
This way it's easy to use the already present infrastructure of fixup
sections. Also this would allows to easily convert the rest of
head[31|64].S into C code.

Preset the bogomips number to the cpu capacity value reported by
store system information in SYSIB 1.2.2. This value is constant
for a particular machine model and can be used to determine
relative performance differences between machines.

Starting with the z9 the CPU Cryptographic Assist Facility comes with
an integrated Pseudo Random Number Generator. The generator creates
random numbers by an algorithm similar to the ANSI X9.17 standard.
The pseudo-random numbers can be accessed via a character device driver
node called /dev/prandom. Similar to /dev/urandom any amount of bytes
can be read from the device without blocking.

This patch adds support for clock synchronization to an external time
reference (ETR). The external time reference sends an oscillator
signal and a synchronization signal every 2^20 microseconds to keep
the TOD clocks of all connected servers in sync. For availability
two ETR units can be connected to a machine. If the clock deviates
for more than the sync-check tolerance all cpus get a machine check
that indicates that the clock is out of sync. For the lovely details
how to get the clock back in sync see the code below.

This provides a noexec protection on s390 hardware. Our hardware does
not have any bits left in the pte for a hw noexec bit, so this is a
different approach using shadow page tables and a special addressing
mode that allows separate address spaces for code and data.
As a special feature of our "secondary-space" addressing mode, separate
page tables can be specified for the translation of data addresses
(storage operands) and instruction addresses. The shadow page table is
used for the instruction addresses and the standard page table for the
data addresses.
The shadow page table is linked to the standard page table by a pointer
in page->lru.next of the struct page corresponding to the page that
contains the standard page table (since page->private is not really
private with the pte_lock and the page table pages are not in the LRU
list).
Depending on the software bits of a pte, it is either inserted into
both page tables or just into the standard (data) page table. Pages of
a vma that does not have the VM_EXEC bit set get mapped only in the
data address space. Any try to execute code on such a page will cause a
page translation exception. The standard reaction to this is a SIGSEGV
with two exceptions: the two system call opcodes 0x0a77 (sys_sigreturn)
and 0x0aad (sys_rt_sigreturn) are allowed. They are stored by the
kernel to the signal stack frame. Unfortunately, the signal return
mechanism cannot be modified to use an SA_RESTORER because the
exception unwinding code depends on the system call opcode stored
behind the signal stack frame.
This feature requires that user space is executed in secondary-space
mode and the kernel in home-space mode, which means that the addressing
modes need to be switched and that the noexec protection only works
for user space.
After switching the addressing modes, we cannot use the mvcp/mvcs
instructions anymore to copy between kernel and user space. A new
mvcos instruction has been added to the z9 EC/BC hardware which allows
to copy between arbitrary address spaces, but on older hardware the
page tables need to be walked manually.

cpu_relax() has barrier() semantics hence there is no need to use both
of them in conjunction in sclp_sync_wait(). Also change cpu_relax()

unionfs managed to hit this on s390. Some architectures use __ptr_t in their
FD_ZERO implementation. We don't have a __ptr_t. Switch them over to plain
old void*.

There are several places in the futex code where a spin_lock is held
and still uaccesses happen. Deadlocks are avoided by increasing the
preempt count. The pagefault handler will then not take any locks
but will immediately search the fixup tables.

Reboot hangs on LPARs without diag308 support. The reason for this is,
that before the reboot is done, the channel subsystem is shut down.
During the reset on each possible subchannel a "store subchannel" is
done. This operation can end in a program check interruption, if the
specified subchannel set is not implemented by the hardware. During
the reset, currently we do not have a program check handler, which
leads to the described kernel bug. We install now a new program check
handler for the reboot code to fix this problem.

A HiperSocket multicast queue works asynchronously. When sending
buffers, the buffer state change from PRIMED to EMPTY may happen
delayed. Reschedule the checking for changes in the outbound queue,
if there are still PRIMED buffers.

Virtually index, physically tagged cache architectures can get away
without cache flushing when forking. This patch adds a new cache
flushing function flush_cache_dup_mm(struct mm_struct *) which for the
moment I've implemented to do the same thing on all architectures
except on MIPS where it's a no-op.

In order to sort out our struct termios and add proper speed control we need
to separate the kernel and user termios structures. Glibc is fine but the
other libraries rely on the kernel exported struct termios and we need to
extend this without breaking the ABI/API
To do so we add a struct ktermios which is the kernel view of a termios
structure and overlaps the struct termios with extra fields on the end for
now. (That limitation will go away in later patches). Some platforms (eg
alpha) planned ahead and thus use the same struct for both, others did not.
This just adds the structures but does not use them, it seems a sensible
splitting point for bisect if there are compile failures (not that I expect
them)

Virtual memmap support for s390. Inspired by the ia64 implementation.
Unlike ia64 we need a mechanism which allows us to dynamically attach
shared memory regions.
These memory regions are accessed via the dcss device driver. dcss
implements the 'direct_access' operation, which requires struct pages
for every single shared page.
Therefore this implementation provides an interface to attach/detach
shared memory:
int add_shared_memory(unsigned long start, unsigned long size);
int remove_shared_memory(unsigned long start, unsigned long size);
The purpose of the add_shared_memory function is to add the given
memory range to the 1:1 mapping and to make sure that the
corresponding range in the vmemmap is backed with physical pages.
It also initialises the new struct pages.
remove_shared_memory in turn only invalidates the page table
entries in the 1:1 mapping. The page tables and the memory used for
struct pages in the vmemmap are currently not freed. They will be
reused when the next segment will be attached.
Given that the maximum size of a shared memory region is 2GB and
in addition all regions must reside below 2GB this is not too much of
a restriction, but there is room for improvement.

CONFIG_LBD and CONFIG_LSF are spread into asm/types.h for no particularly
good reason.
Centralising the definition in linux/types.h means that arch maintainers
don't need to bother adding it, as well as fixing the problem with
x86-64 users being asked to make a decision that has absolutely no
effect.
The H8/300 porters seem particularly confused since I'm not aware of any
microcontrollers that need to support 2TB filesystems.

VMALLOC_END on 31bit should be 0x8000000UL instead of 0x7fffffffL.
The page mask which is used to make sure memory_end is on 4MB/2MB
boundary is wrong and not needed. Therefore remove it.
Make sure a vmalloc area does also exist and work on (future)
machines with 4TB and more memory.

In case of reipl cpcmd gets called when all other cpus are not running
anymore. To prevent deadlocks change __cpcmd so that it doesn't take
any locks and call cpcmd or __cpcmd, whatever is correct in the current
context.

KEXEC_CONTROL_MEMORY_LIMIT is an unsigned long value and therefore
should be defined as one. Otherwise the kexec control page can be
allocated above 2GB which will cause a specification exception on the
sam31 instruction in the s390 kexec relocation code.

In case of re-IPL and diag308 doesn't work we have to reset all devices
manually and wait synchronously that each reset finished.
This patch adds the necessary infrastucture and the first exploiter of it.
Subsystems that need to add a function that needs to be called at re-IPL
may register/unregister this function via

When the registered function get called the context is:
- all cpus beside the current one are stopped

The registered functions may not take any locks are sleep.
For the common I/O layer part of this patch:
Introduce a reset_call css_reset that does the following:
- clear all subchannels
- perform a rchp on all channel paths and wait for the resulting
machine checks
This replaces the calls to clear_all_subchannels() and
cio_reset_channel_paths() for kexec and ccw reipl. reipl_ccw_dev() now
uses reipl_find_schid() to determine the subchannel id for a given
device id.
Also remove cio_reset_channel_paths() and friends since they are not
needed anymore.

handle_pte_fault uses pte_present, pte_none and pte_file to find out
the type of a pte. That is done without holding the page table lock.
This clashes with the way how ptep_clear_flush removes active page
table entries from the system. First the ipte instruction is used
to invalidate the pte and remove all plt entries for the page. The
ipte sets the hardware invalid bit without changing any other bit.
After the ipte finished the pte is cleared. A concurrent fault can
observe the the previously valid pte with the invalid bit set. With
the current encoding of the different pte types an invalidated
read-only pte can be misinterpreted as a swap-pte.

On systems running with virtual cpus there is optimization potential in
regard to spinlocks and rw-locks. If the virtual cpu that has taken a lock
is known to a cpu that wants to acquire the same lock it is beneficial to
yield the timeslice of the virtual cpu in favour of the cpu that has the
lock (directed yield).
With CONFIG_PREEMPT="n" this can be implemented by the architecture without
common code changes. Powerpc already does this.
With CONFIG_PREEMPT="y" the lock loops are coded with _raw_spin_trylock,
_raw_read_trylock and _raw_write_trylock in kernel/spinlock.c. If the lock
could not be taken cpu_relax is called. A directed yield is not possible
because cpu_relax doesn't know anything about the lock. To be able to
yield the lock in favour of the current lock holder variants of cpu_relax
for spinlocks and rw-locks are needed. The new _raw_spin_relax,
_raw_read_relax and _raw_write_relax primitives differ from cpu_relax
insofar that they have an argument: a pointer to the lock structure.

touch_nmi_watchdog() calls touch_softlockup_watchdog() on both
architectures that implement it (i386 and x86_64). On other architectures
it does nothing at all. touch_nmi_watchdog() should imply
touch_softlockup_watchdog() on all architectures. Suggested by Andi Kleen.

Major cleanup of all s390 inline assemblies. They now have a common
coding style. Quite a few have been shortened, mainly by using register
asm variables. Use of the EX_TABLE macro helps as well. The atomic ops,
bit ops and locking inlines new use the Q-constraint if a newer gcc
is used. That results in slightly better code.

The clocksource infrastructure introduced with commit
ad596171ed broke 31 bit s390.
The reason is that the do_div() primitive for 31 bit always
had a restriction: it could only divide an unsigned 64 bit
integer by an unsigned 31 bit integer. The clocksource code
now uses do_div() with a base value that has the most
significant bit set. The result is that clock->cycle_interval
has a funny value which causes the linux time to jump around
like mad.
The solution is "obvious": implement a proper __div64_32
function for 31 bit s390.

One of the changes necessary for shared page tables is to standardize the
pxx_page macros. pte_page and pmd_page have always returned the struct
page associated with their entry, while pte_page_kernel and pmd_page_kernel
have returned the kernel virtual address. pud_page and pgd_page, on the
other hand, return the kernel virtual address.
Shared page tables needs pud_page and pgd_page to return the actual page
structures. There are very few actual users of these functions, so it is
simple to standardize their usage.
Since this is basic cleanup, I am submitting these changes as a standalone
patch. Per Hugh Dickins' comments about it, I am also changing the
pxx_page_kernel macros to pxx_page_vaddr to clarify their meaning.

Introduce ARCH_LOW_ADDRESS_LIMIT which can be set per architecture to
override the 4GB default limit used by the bootmem allocater within
__alloc_bootmem_low() and __alloc_bootmem_low_node(). E.g. s390 needs a
2GB limit instead of 4GB.

identifiers. Otherwise the arch dependent implementations might break.
This patch enforces the correct usage of the macros by producing a syntax

It is now possible to specify a ccw/fcp dump device which is used to
automatically create a system dump in case of a kernel panic. The dump
device can be configured under /sys/firmware/dump.
In addition it is now possible to specify a ccw/fcp device which is used
for the next reboot of Linux. The reipl device can be configured under
/sys/firmware/reipl.

Move initrd if the bitmap of the bootmem allocator would overwrite it.
In addition this patch sets the default size and address of the initrd to 0.
Therefore all boot loaders must set the initrd size and address correctly.
This is especially relevant for ftp boot via HMC/SE, where this change
requires a special patch file entry in the .ins file which sets these two
values contained at address 0x10408 and 0x10410.

The user space interface of the zcrypt device driver implements the old
user space interface as defined by the old z90crypt driver. Everything
is there, the /dev/z90crypt misc character device, all the lovely ioctls
and the /proc file. Even writing to the z90crypt proc file to configure
the crypto device still works. It stands to reason to remove the proc
write function someday since a much cleaner configuration via the sysfs
is now available.
The ap bus device drivers register crypto cards to the zcrypt user
space interface. The request router of the user space interface
picks one of the registered cards based on the predicted latency
for the request and calls the driver via a callback found in the
zcrypt_ops of the device. The request router only knows which
operations the card can do and the minimum / maximum number of bits
a request can have.

set_wmb should not be used in the kernel because it just confuses the
code more and has no benefit. Since it is not currently used in the
kernel this patch removes it so that new code does not include it.
All archs define set_wmb(var, value) to do { var = value; wmb(); }
while(0) except ia64 and sparc which use a mb() instead. But this is
still moot since it is not used anyway.
Hasn't been tested on any archs but x86 and x86_64 (and only compiled
tested)

1. Multipath devices for which SetPGID is not supported are not handled well.
Use NOP ccws for path verification (sans path grouping) when SetPGID is not
supported.
2. Check for PGIDs already set with SensePGID on _all_ paths (not just the
first one) and try to find a common one. Moan if no common PGID can be
found (and use NOP verification). If no PGIDs have been set, use the css
global PGID (as before). (Rationale: SetPGID will get a command reject if
the PGID it tries to set does not match the already set PGID.)
3. Immediately before reboot, issue RESET CHANNEL PATH (rcp) on all chpids. This
will remove the old PGIDs. rcp will generate solicited CRWs which can be
savely ignored by the machine check handler (all other actions create
unsolicited CRWs).

futex_atomic_cmpxchg_inatomic has the same bug as the other

NOTE: ZVC are *not* the lightweight event counters. ZVCs are reliable whereas
event counters do not need to be.
Zone based VM statistics are necessary to be able to determine what the state
of memory in one zone is. In a NUMA system this can be helpful for local
reclaim and other memory optimizations that may be able to shift VM load in
order to get more balanced memory use.
It is also useful to know how the computing load affects the memory
allocations on various zones. This patchset allows the retrieval of that data
from userspace.
The patchset introduces a framework for counters that is a cross between the
existing page_stats --which are simply global counters split per cpu-- and the
approach of deferred incremental updates implemented for nr_pagecache.
Small per cpu 8 bit counters are added to struct zone. If the counter exceeds
certain thresholds then the counters are accumulated in an array of
atomic_long in the zone and in a global array that sums up all zone values.
The small 8 bit counters are next to the per cpu page pointers and so they
will be in high in the cpu cache when pages are allocated and freed.
Access to VM counter information for a zone and for the whole machine is then
possible by simply indexing an array (Thanks to Nick Piggin for pointing out
that approach). The access to the total number of pages of various types does
no longer require the summing up of all per cpu counters.
Benefits of this patchset right now:
- Ability for UP and SMP configuration to determine how memory
is balanced between the DMA, NORMAL and HIGHMEM zones.
- loops over all processors are avoided in writeback and
reclaim paths. We can avoid caching the writeback information
because the needed information is directly accessible.
- Special handling for nr_pagecache removed.
- zone_reclaim_interval vanishes since VM stats can now determine
when it is worth to do local reclaim.
- Fast inline per node page state determination.
- Accurate counters in /sys/devices/system/node/node*/meminfo. Current
counters are counting simply which processor allocated a page somewhere
and guestimate based on that. So the counters were not useful to show
the actual distribution of page use on a specific zone.
- The swap_prefetch patch requires per node statistics in order to
figure out when processors of a node can prefetch. This patch provides
some of the needed numbers.
- Detailed VM counters available in more /proc and /sys status files.

Performance tests with AIM7 did not show any regressions. Seems to be a tad
faster even. Tested on ia64/NUMA. Builds fine on i386, SMP / UP. Includes
fixes for s390/arm/uml arch code.

Create vmstat.c/vmstat.h by separating the counter code and the proc
functions.
Move the vm_stat_text array before zoneinfo_show.

This patch implements an API whereby an application can determine the
label of its peer's Unix datagram sockets via the auxiliary data mechanism of
recvmsg.
Patch purpose:
This patch enables a security-aware application to retrieve the
security context of the peer of a Unix datagram socket. The application
can then use this security context to determine the security context for
processing on behalf of the peer who sent the packet.
Patch design and implementation:
The design and implementation is very similar to the UDP case for INET
sockets. Basically we build upon the existing Unix domain socket API for
retrieving user credentials. Linux offers the API for obtaining user
credentials via ancillary messages (i.e., out of band/control messages
that are bundled together with a normal message). To retrieve the security
context, the application first indicates to the kernel such desire by
setting the SO_PASSSEC option via getsockopt. Then the application
retrieves the security context using the auxiliary data mechanism.
An example server application for Unix datagram socket should look like this:

sock_setsockopt is enhanced with a new socket option SOCK_PASSSEC to allow
a server socket to receive security context of the peer.
Testing:
We have tested the patch by setting up Unix datagram client and server
applications. We verified that the server can retrieve the security context
using the auxiliary data mechanism of recvmsg.

Fixes for several channel measurement facility bugs:
* Blocks copied from the hardware might not be consistent. Solve this
by moving the copying into idle state and repeating the copying.
* avg_sample_interval changed with every read, even though no new block
was available. Solve this by storing a timestamp when the last new
block was received.
* Several locking issues.
* Measurements were not reenabled after a disconnected device became
available again.
* Remove #defines for ioctls that were never implemented.

There are several instances of per_cpu(foo, raw_smp_processor_id()), which
is semantically equivalent to __get_cpu_var(foo) but without the warning
that smp_processor_id() can give if CONFIG_DEBUG_PREEMPT is enabled. For
those architectures with optimized per-cpu implementations, namely ia64,
powerpc, s390, sparc64 and x86_64, per_cpu() turns into more and slower
code than __get_cpu_var(), so it would be preferable to use __get_cpu_var
on those platforms.
This defines a __raw_get_cpu_var(x) macro which turns into per_cpu(x,
raw_smp_processor_id()) on architectures that use the generic per-cpu
implementation, and turns into __get_cpu_var(x) on the architectures that
have an optimized per-cpu implementation.

__futex_atomic_op needs to do an atomic operation in the user address space,
not the kernel address space. Add the missing sacf 256/sacf 0 to switch to
the secondary mode before doing the compare-and-swap. In addition add
another fixup for catch specification exceptions if the compare-and-swap
address is not aligned.

The path grouping can fail due to non-unique pathgroup-IDs. The source for
the CPU-ID part of the ID was incorrectly specified on 64 bit systems.
Additionally, the length of the ID was too large due to incorrect data packing
declaration. Fix CPU-ID lowcore address and add missing packing declaration.

Add a read_mostly section and define __read_mostly to prevent cache line
pollution due to writes for mostly read variables. In addition fix the
incorrect alignment of the cache_line_aligned data section. s390 has a
cacheline size of 256 bytes.

for_each_cpu() actually iterates across all possible CPUs. We've had mistakes
in the past where people were using for_each_cpu() where they should have been
iterating across only online or present CPUs. This is inefficient and
possibly buggy.
We're renaming for_each_cpu() to for_each_possible_cpu() to avoid this in the
future.
This patch replaces for_each_cpu with for_each_possible_cpu.

Bitmap functions for the minix filesystem and the ext2 filesystem except
ext2_set_bit_atomic() and ext2_clear_bit_atomic() do not require the atomic
guarantees.
But these are defined by using atomic bit operations on several architectures.
(cris, frv, h8300, ia64, m32r, m68k, m68knommu, mips, s390, sh, sh64, sparc,
sparc64, v850, and xtensa)
This patch switches to non atomic bit operation.

Add blkcnt_t as the type of inode.i_blocks. This enables you to make the size
of blkcnt_t either 4 bytes or 8 bytes on 32 bits architecture with CONFIG_LSF.

On h8300, i386, mips, powerpc, s390 and sh that define sector_t,
blkcnt_t is defined as u64 if CONFIG_LSF is enabled; otherwise it is
defined as unsigned long.

Change the type from sector_t to blkcnt_t.

Implement the half-closed devices notifiation, by adding a new POLLRDHUP
(and its alias EPOLLRDHUP) bit to the existing poll/select sets. Since the
existing POLLHUP handling, that does not report correctly half-closed
devices, was feared to be changed, this implementation leaves the current
POLLHUP reporting unchanged and simply add a new bit that is set in the few
places where it makes sense. The same thing was discussed and conceptually
agreed quite some time ago:

Since this new event bit is added to the existing Linux poll infrastruture,
even the existing poll/select system calls will be able to use it. As far
as the existing POLLHUP handling, the patch leaves it as is. The
pollrdhup-2.6.16.rc5-0.10.diff defines the POLLRDHUP for all the existing
archs and sets the bit in the six relevant files. The other attached diff
is the simple change required to sys/epoll.h to add the EPOLLRDHUP
definition.

It tests poll(2), but since the delivery is same epoll(2) will work equally.

When we stop allocating percpu memory for not-possible CPUs we must not touch
the percpu data for not-possible CPUs at all. The correct way of doing this
is to test cpu_possible() or to use for_each_cpu().
This patch is a kernel-wide sweep of all instances of NR_CPUS. I found very
few instances of this bug, if any. But the patch converts lots of open-coded
test to use the preferred helper macros.

Without branch hints, the very unlikely chance of the loop repeating due to
cmpxchg failure is unrolled with gcc-4 that I have tested.
Improve this for architectures with a native cas/cmpxchg. llsc archs
should try to implement this natively.

Introduce additional_cpus command line option. By default no additional cpu
can be attached to the system anymore. Only the cpus present at IPL time can
be switched on/off. If it is desired that additional cpus can be attached to
the system the maximum number of additional cpus needs to be specified with
this option.
This change is necessary in order to limit the waste of per_cpu data
structures.

Currently, copy-on-write may change the physical address of a page even if the
user requested that the page is pinned in memory (either by mlock or by
get_user_pages). This happens if the process forks meanwhile, and the parent
writes to that page. As a result, the page is orphaned: in case of
get_user_pages, the application will never see any data hardware DMA's into
this page after the COW. In case of mlock'd memory, the parent is not getting
the realtime/security benefits of mlock.
In particular, this affects the Infiniband modules which do DMA from and into
user pages all the time.
This patch adds madvise options to control whether memory range is inherited
across fork. Useful e.g. for when hardware is doing DMA from/into these
pages. Could also be useful to an application wanting to speed up its forks
by cutting large areas out of consideration.

The DASD extended error reporting is a facility that allows to get detailed
information about certain problems in the DASD I/O. This information can be
used to implement fail-over applications that can recover these problems.
