stephen hemminger 97322b3303 igbvf: remove bogus phys_id
This device lies about supporting phys_id. Remove it and just
let the upper layer report not supported.

David Decotigny 7073949720 ethtool: cosmetic: Use ethtool ethtool_cmd_speed API
This updates the network drivers so that they don't access the
ethtool_cmd::speed field directly, but use ethtool_cmd_speed()
instead.

For most of the drivers, these changes are purely cosmetic and don't
fix any problem, such as for those 1GbE/10GbE drivers that indirectly
call their own ethtool get_settings()/mii_ethtool_gset(). The changes
are meant to enforce code consistency and provide robustness with
future larger throughputs, at the expense of a few CPU cycles for each
ethtool operation.

All drivers compiled with make allyesconfig ion x86_64 have been
updated.

Tested: make allyesconfig on x86_64 + e1000e/bnx2x work

Sergei Shtylyov ff938e43d3 net: use pci_dev->revision, again
Several more network drivers that read the device's revision ID
from the PCI configuration register were merged after the commit
44c10138fd (PCI: Change all drivers
to use pci_device->revision), so it's time to do another pass of
conversion to using the 'revision' field of 'struct pci_dev'...

Ben Hutchings ed4ba4b5b9 netdev: Use default implementation of ethtool_ops::get_link where possible
Various drivers are using implementations of ethtool_ops::get_link
that are equivalent to the default ethtool_op_get_link(). Change
them to use that instead.

Joe Perches a4b770972b drivers/net: Remove unnecessary returns from void function()s
This patch removes from drivers/net/ all the unnecessary
return; statements that precede the last closing brace of
void functions.

It does not remove the returns that are immediately
preceded by a label as gcc doesn't like that.

It also does not remove null void functions with return.

Done via:
$ grep -rP --include=*.[ch] -l "return;\n}" net/ | \
  xargs perl -i -e 'local $/ ; while (<>) { s/\n[ \t\n]+return;\n}/\n}/g; print; }'

with some cleanups by hand.

Compile tested x86 allmodconfig only.

Ben Hutchings 15f0a394c6 net: Convert ethtool {get_stats, self_test}_count() ops to get_sset_count()
These string query operations were supposed to be replaced by the
generic get_sset_count() starting in 2007. Convert the remaining
implementations.

Also remove calls to these operations to initialise drvinfo->n_stats.
The ethtool core code already does that.

result of these changes the user should now be able to enable or disable rx
checksumming via ethtool.

Alexander Duyck d4e0fe01a3 igbvf: add new driver to support 82576 virtual functions
This adds an igbvf driver to handle virtual functions provided by the
igb driver when SR-IOV has been enabled. A virtual function is a
lightweight pci-e function that supports a single queue and shares
resources with the 82576 physical function contained within the igb
driver.

To spawn virtual functions from the igb driver all that is needed is to
enable CONFIG_PCI_IOV and have an 82576 Ethernet adapter on a system that
supports SR-IOV in the BIOS. The virtual functions will appear after the
interface is loaded.
